I started to explore the production process of metal spinning, also called forcing. This is a design technique for metals in which a metal is forced into a certain shape. For this technique you need a lot of experience and skills to get a good result. If you execute this technique too fast, the object will wrinkle, and too slowly the metal will become too hard it rupture.

In my work I ask myself if I can use the mistake of creating these wrinkles? This by give these wrinkles a new purpose.

From this question I started my research, I Looked in to the form and function of the different tests. I discovered that a coffee dripper complements the qualities of the material and form. The wrinkles in the material ensure that the filters doesn't stick to the holder.

I am also a coffee fanatic, I appreciate the ritual of a good cup of coffee. In order to bring a beautiful product into this ritual I hope that people will appreciate this ritual more.

process

I Design from what I see in the different materials, shapes and techniques. Go in depth with the qualities of the created objects.
How do I turn a mistake in the process into a product? to answer this question I went through several tests. The most important were these:

The folded tray
I execute the technique too quickly, causing the aluminum plate to ring. In place stops at this point, I was so done whit it that I pushed through. This created a folded tray, these folds gave a nice softness to the tray.
testing with different shapes
By turning different shapes I accidentally ended up whit a funnel. These form lead me to the idea of a coffee dripper.

design criteria
it must be a harmony of different techniques, shapes and materials.
The aesthetic values must also have a functional value.
A design must have a certain softness.

Relevance
I see many possibilities within the technique of metal spinning with these specific folds. It can become an table ware or kitchen set. I would also do research into shape lampshade.
